Rendering Bug on Selective Formatting

  • What were you doing: Selecting and quoting text
  • What feature did you use: Standard formatting tools
  • What happened: Underline shows up after formatted word
  • What did you expect to happen: Only quotes around selected word.

When selecting then quoting text in a list the bottom part of the “selection highlight (?)” remains after the formatting operation is completed. It disappears on after doing other actions.

  1. Write a sentence in a “todo” list item.
  2. Hold Shift to select parts of the line
  3. Press Shift+" to quote the selected part
  4. Remove cursor
  5. Rendering bug where bottom part of selection remains.

I’ve included a video that shows the problem, and a file where it replicates consistently on my end.

This is still an issue on

  • Bear Version: 3.0.1 (14853)
  • OS Version: macOS Golden Gate 27.0

I have included another video of the issue, including a new test file where I can easily reproduce the problem by simply drag-selecting the text.

MacOS TextView sometimes produces little artifacts like the one in the video, but unfortunately, we haven’t found a good solution so far.

Agree. I’ve reported this issue to apple many times.
