Saving links from Instagram is tricky, but it would be very helpful if it would behave similar to how links from X work.
Why do I save links from Instagram? A lot of times I save some video post where someone explains something I want to learn, so I save it to check it out later. I also save a lot of profiles, from companies that provide some sort of product of service that I am interest in, and save the profile to check it out later.
Also, it would be nice to have parity between the Web Clipper and the iOS App Sharing Extension, so both save them in the same way.
Links from Instagram are very tricky most of the times. A lot of descriptions have an ugly format with lots of useless stuff and images. Also, a lot of times there are descriptions with many hashtags added which mess up your sidebar with random tags.
So I think the ideal would be to just avoid the content of the post itself, and just save the link. Something like this:
Title of the note: “AccountName (@username) on Instagram”
Content of the note: Just the link of the post with the link preview. The name of this link would be the description of the post (with a character limit, if it is too long ending with…), so you can quickly see what the post is about know which one it is.
Thanks!
