Todo still clickable on Read-Only mode on iPad & iOS

As the title indicates, even on read-only mode notes with todo (checklist) are still active and able to check/uncheck on iPadOS and iOS.

Currently using iPad Gen 10 and iPhone 15 pro with latest OS versions.

MacOS doesn’t have this issue.

Thanks for reporting this bug. We’ll fix it for the next update.

Wait… I thought that was part of the feature? It’s nice to use a checklist without accidentally going into cursor mode and the keyboard opening and the page shifting. Is it not supposed to work this way?

This is a good point and should get a few moments of consideration before changing it.

yeah I actually thought it was on purpose too, and I like it that way

Also while read-only mode is on, writing on tables with Apple Pencil adds texts into it making it editable.

I am quoting directly from Bear blog:

Read-Only Mode

Sometimes, you just want to read your notes without accidentally editing them. With Read-Only Mode, you can scroll through your thoughts and ideas effortlessly—perfect for focused reading or quiet reflection.

To enable it, open the ⫶ menu and select “Make Read-Only”. You’ll see a read-only icon appear in the top-right corner. When you’re ready to make changes again, just click or tap the icon and select “Make Editable.”

I think “read-only mode” should and strictly function as the name stated, without exception.
If anyone wants to make changes, “Make Editable” function is there for that reason.

I do have important checklists and deadlines to follow, I do not want them accidentally checked off.

You won’t be able to check off todos in read-only notes anymore. We’ve already fixed the bug, and the next release will have it working as expected.
