Bear Web Update 0.40.0 (2026-10-26)

Your notes now live in your browser too. Bear Web keeps an encrypted copy of your notes on this device, so it starts faster and large libraries are quicker to browse.

To enable the persistent copy and take advantage of the faster startup and search, you’ll need to select the “trust this device” setting in the menu on the top left of the Bear Web app.

  • Keep writing when the connection drops. Edits are saved in your browser straight away and sync to iCloud as soon as you’re back online, even if you close the tab first.
  • Faster, smarter search. Search runs on your device and works while offline.
  • Better with several tabs. Changes made in one tab appear in your other open tabs straight away, and all tabs share one connection to iCloud.
  • Safer sign-out. Log Out now asks for confirmation first, because signing out removes your notes from this browser. Anything not yet synced to iCloud would be lost.

Nice! I continue to be very impressed by how smooth and full-featured Bear is on the web. By comparison, Apple Notes’ web interface is a total joke.
