Testing version:
Version 2.0 (10209)
What were you doing:
- In a note when the last section of the document is folded.
- Position the cursor higher up in the document
- Add a footnote
What feature did you use:
What happened:
- The footnote gets created within the folded section at the bottom of the document
- When the link to the footnote is clicked, Bear crashes
What did you expect to happen:
I expected the footnote to be created at the end of the document (excluded from folding)
I expected clicking on the footnote link to take me to the footnote rather than crash
Hello,
thanks for reporting this issue, will be fixed in the next update.
I had something similar happen today (August 2024). Actually, it’s the first time I’ve ever experienced a crash with Bear. I only recently discovered footnotes. I added one to a note, and created a folding Footnotes section at the bottom of the note to incorporate the footnote, as I planned on using a number of these. The program kept crashing every time I tried to do anything to the note (e.g. bolding text in an entirely different part of the note, etc.). I hadn’t considered that this was related to the folding section— but based on the OP’s comments, perhaps this is what was going on? If so: I guess the planned fix from 2023 never materialized?
I’ve experienced crashing with folding/unfolding recently too - haven’t been able to narrow down a pattern though.
We have rewritten part of the folding code recently, and we unfortunately introduced some crashing bugs. They are fixed already and will be part of the next release along with other improvements.
