Frequent crashing on Mac OS 15.6.1 when clicking on random notes in the sidebar. There does not seem to be a pattern as to which notes will cause the crash, but when it affects a particular note it continues to crash when trying to access it after restarting Bear. Thus, there are several notes that are currently not accessible.
This was happening to me as well. I was running into a consistent bug on macOS (Mac Studio M1) since pre-OS26 updates. After updating to OS26, I’m no longer seeing crashes. I do have plenty of Apple crash reports saved though and have sent a few from Apple’s popup.
Previous Setup
macOS 15.6.1 (24G90)
Mac Studio M1
MacBook Pro M3
Bear macOS Version 2.6 (13715)
Bear iPadOS Version 2.6
iPad Pro M4
Previous Steps
Restarted devices. Updated apps. Nothing is on OS26 yet.
I started searching for older files. After clicking on them, macOS crashes. It happens every time. It was older notes containing PDF or images. Not all. Only some notes.
I can access the same files on the iPad without any issues. I tried pinning and updating the note on the iPad and then editing the updates on the Mac, still crashes on the Mac.
This happens on my Mac Studio M1. Not my MacBook Pro M3.
2025-09-18 - New Updates
I updated everything to OS26. Nothing is crashing anymore. Everything is working normal.
Please write to our customer support, attaching the latest Bear crashlog you can find in Console.app > Crash Reports. Right-click on the log and select Reveal in Finder to access the .ips or .crash file.
Both of my Macs crash on any note that has a table with more than two columns beginning with Bear v. 2.5.2 and continuing on 2.6. I am still on Sequoia. I’m in contact with support, but you might try creating a new note, adding a table, and then adding a third column to see if that causes a crash, and/or accessing the notes in question on iOS or the web to see if find a similar pattern.
