Hide tags in previews

Note previews should exclude tags so that the preview better presents a peek at initial content even if a number of tags have been added to the beginning of a note. See example where I usually add people tags to the top of each note.

You make a good point. We are considering it.

Awesome. On a related note, “first-class citizen” “mentions” for people tagging, separate from existing hashtags, would be so helpful. I use a #@/FirstLast notation today, which works, but is overly noisy and prone to “oops” mistakes.

What do you want from it? Are you thinking about a @name syntax? What problem would it solve for you and what functionality would you like associated?

And regarding ignoring tags, we have added code that skips tags unless they are part of a text (like this A trip to #rome). It will likely be part of the next beta.

I’m just thinking another element just like a hashtag, but using a different symbol and colored differently, reserved for “mentions” of people. So many notes, especially for professional projects and tasks, benefit from tagging people in order to better find and identify related people.

Should those @tags appear separated in its own group within the tag tree from left sidebar? I find your idea quite interesting but I am not sure to what extent and how exactly this could be useful to me

Now that you mentioned to add code to distinguish if a tag is part of a text it came to my mind that this could be also used to address following request of placing tags on top of a note when dragging them onto a tag in the sidebar. Hope you devs will at least consider that.

Yeah. They would be a peer of existing tags. However, given how many mentions might be created (I use lots), and since they would not be nestable, a different approach might be best for viewing them all.

I personally use @ for dates and locations quite so often and don’t want them to appear on the side bar. So there is also this side of use case

Perhaps the @ “tag” would be on the sidebar, but no nesting. Instead, it’s automatically sorted into alphabetical virtual “sub-tags” to simplify finding and managing.

These could be used for names, of course, but nothing stopping user from using for something else (flexibility!).

Bonus would be allowing multi-term without a closing symbol, given that names are frequently multiple words.

BTW, how can I get on the Beta testers list to try out such features?
