Image Sync Issue from Web to iOS

I’ve been testing the new Bear Web version and am really impressed with the progress so far! It’s a fantastic addition to the ecosystem.

I wanted to report a potential bug I’ve encountered regarding image synchronization. Specifically, when I paste an image into a note using the web version, it doesn’t appear to sync correctly to my iOS app.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open a note in the Bear Web client.
  2. Paste an image into the note (e.g., from the clipboard).
  3. Confirm the image displays correctly in the web client.
  4. Allow a moment for synchronization to occur.
  5. Open the same note in the Bear app on an iOS device.

Expected Result:
The image pasted via the web client should be visible and correctly rendered within the note on the iOS app.

Actual Result:
The image is missing in the note on the iOS app. All text content syncs properly, but the image itself does not appear.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. I’m very sorry about the issue with the images not syncing. When you have the chance, could you try again with the latest version of Bear Web? We released an update today that address a number of subtle bugs, and may hopefully fix your issue as well. If it doesn’t please let us know, we’ll do our best to troubleshoot it.

Hi Bear Team,

I’m writing to report an issue where images in my notes are not displaying correctly when I view them on the Bear web app in Google Chrome.

Instead of the images, I only see the markdown code for them (e.g., ![image.jpg]). These same notes and images appear perfectly on my other devices, so the issue seems to be specific to the web version on Chrome.

I am using the web app at my office, and I’m wondering if this could be related to our company’s firewall settings. Is it possible that the firewall is blocking the images from loading properly?

I’ve attached a screenshot showing how the note appears in Chrome with the broken image links.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Best regards,

Chris

Hi, thanks for the feedback. It could be an issue with the firewall as you suggests, nevertheless we’ll try to replicate and investigate the issue. Please make sure you keep a recent backup of your notes!

I’ve experienced the same. It can lead to image loss as after synchronisation back to iOS device, it will show ![](image) rather than the image itself. Luckily I was able to recover the images as I have backups.

I’m also in a similar situation (using office network), but I was wondering if there should be a fallback to prevent image loss when this happens.
