Note in main window does not scroll, only in floating window

  • Bear Version: Version 2.5.1 (13605)
  • OS Version: 15.6.1 (24G90)
  • What were you doing: Trying to scroll in any long note opened in the main app window.
  • What feature did you use: Just trying to scroll to the bottom of my note.
  • What happened: The scroll bar moves, but the note doesn’t. When you let go of the scroll bar it immediately snaps back to the top. At no point does the content in the note actually scroll.
  • What did you expect to happen: I expect to be able to scroll to the bottom of a long note in the main window. The ONLY way that I can scroll to the bottom of the note is to open the note in a separate window. That’s for ANY long note.

Basically, the only way I can see the content of my long notes, is to open them in a floating window where scrolling works as expected. In the main window scrolling does not work at all.

Is this happening just for 1 specific note? Do you have any apps installed on your Mac that add functionalities to macOS TextViews (Spelling tools, AI, …) or change how the window system works (such as Rectangle)?

It happens for all long notes (they all work fine on my iPad though). I don’t use AI and I don’t do anything fancy on my computer (aka I don’t have anything installed that I can think of that affects the OS across apps). Unless there’s some OS setting that would cause this (I do use some accessibility settings, but only the built-in ones).

As I was writing this, I went in to Settings to turn some accessibility settings on and off and in the process restarted Bear, which now works as expected (even though I put all the settings back the way they were). So … some kind of glitch that resolved with restarting the app. I’ll come back if it starts up again.

Thanks. Do you remember the setting you changed? I’d like to test this as well.
