Scroll Position Not Saved When Switching Between Apps on iOS

I frequently switch between bear and other apps (i.e. kindle) when taking notes, copying and pasting various text elements into bear.

With longer notes (starting at around 100 lines of text, not quite sure about the treshold) the scroll position is not saved reliably. When switching from bear to another app just for a few seconds to copy a text portion, upon returning to my bear note the cursor and scroll position is lost (usually the scroll position is set to about 1/3 of the note length from what I can tell). This behaviour is quite frustrating and time consuming.

Expected behaviour: When leaving and returning to my open note on iOS the scroll and cursor positions should be restored to enable continuous editing.

Instruction for reproduction:

  • Open a longer note in Bear (at least 100 lines).
  • Scroll to a specific position in the note. Klick in-line to set a cursor position.
  • Switch to another app (e.g., Kindle) and copy some text.
  • Return to Bear after a few seconds.

Hello,

do you have access to Bear beta or are you experiencing this problem on version 2.3.11?

I don’t have access to the beta. I just checked and on iOS I’m running version 2.3.10.

This used to drive me crazy too, but the good news is that it seems to be fixed in 2.3.11 beta :+1:

Cool. Is 2.3.11 the beta version or am I missing an update? How do I download beta if so?

This bug is still there. It happens on Bear 2.4.4 too. And on IOS. It’s highly inconvenient.

Yes I came to post about this bug too. It happens every time you switch to some app and back to Bear, on 2.4.4 TestFlight.

This has been happening for me as well recently. Not sure when it started. I have the latest update, 2.4.4.

This is a big issue for my workflow since I’m constantly switching between apps and writing in Bear. Every time I switch back to Bear, I grimace with the pain of having to remember what part of the document I’m editing, and when I find it hopefully I haven’t forgotten what I wanted to write.

I hope this gets fixed soon! :crossed_fingers:

PS Bear is great! :bear:
