One/Two/Three-pane buttons dissapears on wide windows

Operation system: Windows, MacOs, iPadOS

Web Browser: Edge, Chrome, Firefox

Bug report

What were you doing: Wanting to close Tag-pane and Note List pane to have only editor (or only notelist + editor) open.

What feature did you use: I use the two buttons “hamburger” and > (<)

What happened: They dissapear on wide browser windows both on pc/mac and iPad/tablet, so forced to view all three panes on wider windows (including full frame/fullscreen browser) and iPad landscape mode.

Also even when you got one pane (editor) only, it resets to all three panes if you widen the window or change to fullscreen view.

What did you expect to happen:

These buttons should be present all the time, like they are on Bear iPad/iOS app. (not emulating the MacOS app where these buttons are sadly also missing ;( :

Feedback:

Workaround to view buttons on Windows/ MacOS:

  • On fullscreen: Zoom browser view to 175%, but text gets too big then.
  • Otherwise, keep window less than about 70% screen width.

Workaround to view buttons/ one-pane on iPad:

  • Portrait mode, but resets to three pane mode when turning to landscape ;(
  • iPad split screen with any other app, setting browser pane to 3/4 size.
  • the above, and then dragging second app over to become slide-over and browser (Edge) to full width. Looks like buttons and one pane then sticks. but very iffy and unnecessary procedure ;(
  • Also works with iPad in stage manager mode and browser with reduced width:

Thanks for the feedback. Soon you should get shortcuts to trigger the different layouts, that will definitely help customising the experience to your liking.

Thank you, that’s great

But what about the same issue on full screen landscape iPad/tablets? Without keyboard, shortcuts are not available…
