Side bar can't be collapsed

Operation system:
Windows 11

Web Browser:
Google Chrome

Feedback:

First of all thanks for adding me to web beta, I am so excited for this.
On large monitors the font appears very small so we need to zoom in a bit which results in sidebars to take the complete space.

I see that we have some shortcuts to collapse the sidebars as we do on macos.

  • Alt 1 - Show editor only
  • Alt 2 - Show note list and editor
  • Alt 3 - Show sidebar, note list and editor

But none of these shortcuts seem to work on the web version.

Update: I just tested on my mac google chrome browser and the shortcuts for different views doesn’t work there either.

Not yet! We’re still evaluating what to refine versus what to add, and your feedback will be invaluable in that process. :slightly_smiling_face:

Regarding text sizes, we have tried to match the default size in Bear. Zooming is what we expect people to do if they want a bigger size on the web. Would it be helpful to be able to resize the side bar like you can do in Mac Bear?

Yes that would be great if we can resize the sidebars as I think most of the the focus will be on editing single notes on bear web rather than browsing through the complete catalogue.

I’m able to collapse the sidebar in smaller screen-size. But on a larger monitor, it stays on by default. I guess having an immersive writing experience is something quite important for Bear users. Would be great to be able to collapse both sidebase and notes list - using shortcuts or buttons from the options menu.

Hi @rexikan , the web app has been really a game changer for me, I’ve been using it daily for accessing and taking notes on my work laptop. Although there are rough edges here and there but is still very much useable. Checking back in if this is planned or not (resizing the sidebar or I don’t even want resizing, I just feel like have a focus mode will be a lot more smoother as I’ve to zoom a lot since I am on a larger monitor and on zooming the side interface takes a lot of screen space and is a bit distracting).

Yes, hiding the sidebars like the mac app will likely be added. Possibly resizing too.
