Tag hierarchy change

Allowing to rearrange the tag hierarchy by dragging the tags in the left-hand tag listing.
From time to time I notice the need to move a group of sub-tagged documents under a different main-tap. This happens usually when my understanding of a certain topic develops sufficiently. Currently I need to manually change tags on each pertaining document, which can become a real nuisance.

Hi there! It sounds like the functionality you’re looking for already exists in Bear, just in a slightly different way.

While you can’t directly drag and drop a tag onto another, you can achieve a similar result by right-clicking (or tap-and-holding on mobile) a tag and choosing Edit Tag. This allows you to rename the tag directly.

For example:

  • Renaming a tag to an existing tag’s name will effectively merge their associated notes.
  • Adjusting the tag’s path without changing its base name will effectively move it under another tag.

In both cases, Bear automatically updates all notes associated with the edited tag to reflect your changes.

Is that what you’re looking for?

Hi,

Am I slow-witted, or what? I just had not ever even noticed thit functionality.

Works wonders and I am now very happy user.

Thanks & regards,

Juha
