Tags and Search no longer working

I am a longstanding pro user who today transitioned from an Intel MacBook to an Apple Silicon Mac mini and am having huge problems with the Bear app. The tag system no longer seems to work in terms of locating my notes nor can I find any of my notes via the search engine. I think they are all in there but are just not findable either through tags or search. I tried deleting the app then reinstalling it but this hasn’t worked.

Any suggestions welcome as this has rendered bear on my new Mac useless.

Please try the following:

  • Backup your notes.
  • Quit Bear.
  • Delete/move this folder on your Mac ~/Library/Group Containers/9K33E33T4.net.shinyfrog.bear
    • In Finder, you can hit CMD+SHIFT+G, paste the path, and hit Enter.
  • Re-open Bear and let it sync all your notes.
    • Or restore the backup if you are not a Bear Pro user

This should regenerate your database file, which is most likely corrupted.
If the above doesn’t work, get in touch with our customer support.
